Re: Michigan Law Class of 2015
Hi all! Just got accepted last week (still so excited I can't believe it!!), and just wanted to join the conversation!
I haven't made a decision yet re: Michigan, mostly because I have to decide if I want to go to law straight out of UG. I go here for UG so I already know I love this place! But I have a job offer, so that's the decision (the only other law school I applied to was WUSTL, and that was before I got the job offer). But I saw I have a Dean's Scholarship letter on the way, so that will definitely help the financial burden of going straight to LS.
On a different note, for those of you thinking of flying in, you should def fly into DTW (Detroit Metro), it's only like 30 min away (and not in Detroit, contrary to its name). You can get a shuttle to campus from there (people have already posted the link) - I've taken it before, it's great.

Congrats! FWIW, I think you should come be with us. You just got into Michigan Law with a scholarship. Real life couldn't possibly be any better than that.mgolaw wrote:Hi all! Just got accepted last week (still so excited I can't believe it!!), and just wanted to join the conversation!

Plus, the U Mich class of 2015 is rumored to be the most amazing class ever.

Sounds about right. What we lack in Lawyer's Club, we have to make up in personality and "collegiality" hahaLady in Red wrote:the U Mich class of 2015 is rumored to be the most amazing class ever.

Yes! I also just received an email from her offering to set me up with a current student who holds some of my similar interests, so I can be sure that Michigan is right for me...

Did any of you watch the video about Aikens common?
The actual space looked really cool, but the cheesy hotel music in the background gave me shivers (and not the good kind).

As of right now I am fairly certain that I will attend UM starting in the summer. I will probably rent an apartment on campus, one of the ones advertised on the admitted student website. Does anybody know if there is any difference between those apartments because I need to pick one soon and since the lease will start in August, what should I do during the summer?

There are many students who will sublease during the summer—some are in this thread, and many others can be found here and here.law2015 wrote:As of right now I am fairly certain that I will attend UM starting in the summer. Just signed up for the first ASW, excited to meet everybody! Now to plan travel.
According to the most recent email, that's fine, but they won't be able to cover your room/housing costs in that case since space is pretty tighthooma wrote:Speaking of bringing an SO, is ASW at Mich guest friendly? It doesn't look like they ask on the registration if you're bringing a guest which seems strange since they provide meals.

Re: Michigan Law Class of 2015
This question might have been answered already, but I didn't see it in the previous couple pages, so I'll shoot. Does anyone have any insight into how easy it is to get a deferral? I know they say it's more difficult to get a deferral than admission, but I'm wondering what constitutes a legitimate reason for deferring at Michigan?
Also, I just saw on the admitted students website that I got a Dean's Scholarship for $15k. Is that per year or total?
Thanks for the help folks! Very happy to be a part of this thread.
