That sounds awful. Is Syracuse/Hancock much cheaper?

Yea, Syracuse is about $300 and I would have to get a rental car...An hour taxi ride would probably cost mucho dinero

hmm... i'd ask a current student. i recall reading somewhere on here that students have pretty specific money-saving routes re: choosing which airport, where to stay, and how to get to campus..

If you're going to rent a car try the Rochester airport. I'm from the area and fly home from school a lot and Rochester is always cheaper than Syracuse for me. It's a 2 hour drive to Ithaca, but if you like driving, that's not a big issue.

And Kayak.com is the best website for flights - it searches every other website (besides Southwest) to find the best prices. Plus, it lets you select multiple airports all in the same search.

Looks like all of the cool kids are putting polls in their threads for when people are attending ASW. We should look into that...

On a side note, has anyone here visited Cornell (or rather, Ithaca) yet? Just wondering if anyone has any friends, family, etc. up there that have previously justified making a trip.

avamango - I'm in the Syracuse area, and my Mom actually did some design work for Cornell when they were renovating, so I've been to the campus a few times. I haven't been on an actual "tour" yet, but I'm thinking about trying to set one up and maybe sit in on a class or something.

I've been thinking of visiting before ASW too. I have a buddy who goes to Cornell and he says its a pretty awesome place. I don't want to wait until the end of March to check it out; this application process is taking long enough as it is.

same! i'm deciding between cornell and mich (which would be summer start), so i need to decide sooner rather than later where i'm gonna end up. i'll be visitng before ASW in early march. i'll let you all know how it goes!

hmm, i made the link correctly, but apparently it's impossible to link directly to a specific school's page on LST. tried a few different workarounds, URL shortener sites and so on, but a copy&paste of the URL is the best i can do for now.

Noticed that myself. After I asked you to fix the link, I went and messed around with LST and came to the same conclusion.

If anyone is having trouble making arrangements to get to the admitted student days, the handbook seems to have helpful stuff in it.
