Re: Columbia Law Class of 2015
I wanted to double check some stuff on UAH, but when I try to log in with my UNI, I get this:
"No UAH account associated with this UNI. You must sign up for a UAH account. Follow this link for more instructions."
Anyone else getting the same thing? (I'm inputting the correct information)

Re: Columbia Law Class of 2015
Just got an email about Perkins loans, FYI.
The entrance counseling is the most annoying shit ever.
ETA: Finished entrance counseling, filled out the Perkins MPN + confirmation form. Going to mail those later today. Finished the grant data page with my biographical sketch and such. Also filled out the meningitis thing.
I think that means the only thing that remains is filling out the health insurance waiver once the form is out later this month.

I filled it out pretty quickly. Luckily, my PS was largely biographical so I just copy and pasted that in. I didn't get overly specific with anything else.

Not sure how important that is, but the sample was in 3rd person. Might be worth it to call the office and ask about making a change.

Called housing. Looks like my room is 11x11, not bad. Also, no ethernet charge = no internet through Columbia. That means it might actually be cheaper in the long run (probably 25 or something split with my roommate for an outside provider).

Damn, that's another random bill I've gotta pay. According to the website, its Verizon for DSL and Time Warner for cable. Anyone know about their respective speeds or quality?Bronck wrote:Called housing. Looks like my room is 11x11, not bad. Also, no ethernet charge = no internet through Columbia. DSL sucks. TW was reliable.

I heard Time Warner is an absolute shithole of a company, but it's better than slow ass DSL.
I just went through the Time Warner thing online to check prices, and it says $30 for 12 months for 10mbps, $40 for 12 months for 20mbps, and $50 for 12 months for 30mbps.

I didn't have any problems with them. Came on time for the installation. I returned the equipment the day I wanted to and got back all of my money. I did a direct deposit so I had no payment problems either. No service problems the entire year I used them.Bronck wrote:I heard Time Warner is an absolute shithole of a company, but it's better than slow ass DSL.

That's good to hear. I've just heard horror stories about the customer service, but I guess you get that with every company, eh? I know I've had abysmal relations with Comcast in the past.shumpshump wrote:I didn't have any problems with them. Came on time for the installation. Unfortunately the infrastructure for fios is still pretty limitied :/ it's almost a block by block thing. Don't think it's offered in a lot of (if any of) the Columbia housing units.

I had a great experience with TW. There was a deal when I was signing up so I paid about 30/mo. Great speed and reliability. On my way to the airport, I stopped by their store and dropped off the modem, no hassle.

Cool, that's good to hear. Which speed is best? 10mbps, 20mbps, 30mbps? I'd of course want to do a bit of dloading.

I thought I needed a Dean's Cert from a JC where I took just one class but I checked with Columbia and found out I don't. You only need the Dean's Cert. from a school which gave you a degree. Wanted to clear that up in case I misinformed anyone earlier.

you know, I'm a techtard, so I don't know what those things are. If I remember correctly, I went with medium or low, but not high. I stream the shit out of Hulu but never download. I never had an issue. Sounds like you might want medium or high.Bronck wrote:Cool, that's good to hear. Which speed is best? 10mbps, 20mbps, 30mbps? I'd of course want to do a bit of dloading.

The email I just received says that every school you matriculated for a degree. That's a bit ambiguous.
Do you think the same applies to transcripts? I was under the impression that it was only from the degree granting, but the email also says from which you transferred

Gotcha. That was what I was thinking as well. Are you constrained to 12 months, or can you cancel after, e.g., 9 months and not get tagged with a fee? Just in case I decide to get a different place for 2L/3L.kwais wrote:you know, I'm a techtard, so I don't know what those things are. If I remember correctly, I went with medium or low, but not high.
