I think it might be helpful to have someone on the same page as you while transitioning into law school (studying, meeting people, everyday campus protocol etc.)
but I am with you, I don't think its something I would have been upset about had I not been assigned to live with another law student

Yeah, I don't really care at this point.
Just called, and it looks like they already received my final transcript and Dean's cert.

Finally got my housing assignment! It is unfurnished rather than furnished, but it's on the 400 block of law school housing! I guess someone turned it down?
ETA: So the ethernet on the housing thing says 0.00 per month, but there's a 29/month charge? I'm confused

Honestly I think unfurnished might be the way to go. It seems like the rent's like 200 bucks cheaper and you get a bigger room.

^ Thanks man. Extended weekend, but maybe I'll get lucky with a Tuesday morning surprise.
Just scanned my immunization records, going to send the PDF off early next week. Aside from the Perkins loan MPN, that should be my final set of documents I need to send in.

Was it? I emailed Fin Aid about it and they said they'd email more info about it over the summer: "Instructions on completing the Perkins Loan Master Promissory Note will be emailed to you over the Summer."

I think the 15th was more of a soft deadline. I called them to see whether my stuff was received, and they just told me that they will be sorting through everything and will notify you if you are missing anything

Stafford and Grad Plus MPNs were due May 15th. Perkins comes later, I think.

Wanted to get your guys' wisdom:
opening up a bank account with TD Bank when I move. Any point in getting a savings account? or is a checking account good enough? It's a $250 minimum for the account and it obviously has little to no interest. Is there some advantage/need for a savings account?

I have TD, their interest rate really blows but I'd open both anyway. The practical benefit is that if your debt card is ever stolen/lost they only have access to the money you have in your checking (assuming they don't have your pin as well). They have a smartphone app you can use to easily transfer back and forth between the two accounts so there isn't really a reason not to use the savings account IMO.

Good point. Some added security is always nice.
Yeah, I did a lot of research and it seems like everyone says TD is the best in NY. Chase has more locations, but TD has better hours and better customer service. I don't really expect great interest rates from banks anymore, that's what the stock market is for! haha
