Bumping for the quoted. My financial aid email says it wants me to "accept or decline" the award but I can't figure out how to do that with access to Albert or whatever. Also, does NYU have a special form they want for GradPlus? I had to do one through Michigan, so they didn't want us just going on the the student aid site and applying.

Also, is there anything else I can do before getting my netID? Chomping at the bit here.
Some people have had luck with giving the financial aid office a call. However, I don't know if that would work for you if you haven't already gone through the Master Promissory Note process for both Stafford and GradPlus.

Us early birds received an email a couple of weeks ago detailing in like 5 steps how we should go about requesting/accepting our loans. It first directed us to some government website to do entrance counseling and the MPN's. After, we were sent to Albert to accept/decline/adjust the loans being offered. If you'd like that financial aid email, I'd have no problem sending it your way.

I can't think of anything in particular that you can do without your netID. You're basically stuck until you get that.

PS. you should join the Facebook group if you haven't already. It actually has a lot of useful info about everything from loans to housing.

Thanks, Vin. I have done MPNs for the loans, but it was for a different school. I guess I'll just wait it out until I get more info. I hope they send a packet or something my way. And I don't have a Facebook any more! Sad, but true.

Np. Considering your case is more complicated than most, I would definitely shoot them a call. I think we're coming up to the (albeit soft) deadline pretty soon for all of this loan nonsense.

And kudos on the facebook part. You're a braver man than most

Mea culpa, Ms. Killingly.

On another note, I must say I'm kinda disappointed this thread has been so slow. Orientation is less than a month away, now

Yeah you guys aren't very chatty. You need to start planning random drinking events/other things. Even though nothing but everyone going to bars and drinking will likely happen, it's a solid way to get excited about the fall.

I'm all up in this thread. I'm sure I'll be spamming it with more questions and stuff. Speaking of which, is it true that we can't move into the student apartments until the day of orientation? I know you can pay to move in early, but still.

I think the only activities on the first day are like picking up a packet with your section and stuff (though you guys should be able to figure this out before hand), and then a section mixer that evening. That's how ours was. So it's really not an issue to move in that day.

I will say that moving in early is probably worth it just for convenience/parking/more time to get settled in.

Yep. You've got to pay like a prorated amount to move in before that. Thing is, there's a bunch of people currently living in the apartments for the summer; lots of summer SA's and the like from different places renting. The AB'ers are moving up a few weeks early and the admin. isn't even sure that they're gonna be able to put us into our actual apartments yet

There's a decent amount of that going on in the FB group, but mostly for the peepz already in NY. I guess things will pick up once sections are announced at the start of orientation (crossing fingers for #4 [Epstein+AMiller])

Nah, I'm just dumb. UPS just showed up with a whole bunch of fun stuff from NYU for me. And health forms. Yay!

Do we get confirmation that our immunization records have been received and processed?

For anyone who has lived in mercer or is planning to, do you know how common it is to buy a bigger bed than the single provided? I talked to someone who said that some use the single bed as a "couch" and buy a mattress/box spring. Thoughts?

Also interested in this.

And if the health forms need to be bubbled in pencil. Scantron so I assume so.

Better strategy, IMO, is to flip the single on its side and use it as a headboard. Not a lot of space for a big bed and couch. I don't know many people that have done either. You could also be a big bed and try to get someone else to take your single for the year. I think that's more common.

Hello everybody, I am looking forward to meeting you all this fall. Just wanted to contribute and help out those still looking for apartments as it is very stressful especially if you are not from NYC. Be aware that apartments you will find on most websites are not the actual apartments that will be rented. I actually had a tls poster help me find an apartment and I couldn't be happier with the price, location or the apartment she found for me. If you are still looking, I would recommend sending her a pm and seeing what your options are, her username is dgb87. She was very easy to deal with and very helpful with the search. Good luck.

How exactly do you connect your tv to the HDTV that NYUtv provides? Online, the "how to connect" segment only mentions the standard antenna cable. Does NYU provide a cable box or something?

OK guys, reposting from an earlier similar question in the Facebook group:

NOTE: I'm technologically illiterate, is IB4Letmegooglethatforyou

I've sent official completed transcripts, am not doing on campus housing, and have sent the college questionairre. What do I still have to do? I'm in Puerto Rico for my honeymoon ATM so it's kind of pain in the ass to deal with some of the stuff.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
