Thank you for the suggestions, and congratulations on y'all both having such good opportunities close by - 3 hours is not bad at all! My GF wants to go to law school at LSU next year and that would be reallly far.. hopefully we can find something in Virginia for her to doFloridaCoastalorbust wrote:Hmm...maybe she can find some full time work in her immediate field of psychology. Perhaps there is a lab she can work in at UVA or a college close by. My s/o is finishing her undergrad and has worked in a few university labs on research grants. She is also a psych undergrad and will be doing grad school at Johns Hopkins which isn't to far away (Baltimore). We are both pretty excited about how our grad school locations ended up in terms of proximity to one another!theduffman wrote:We'll both be straight out of undergrad with psychology major/business minor and she wants to go to law school after I do. Guys... I know apps are down across the board this year and everything... But we are straight up getting embarrassed. Last couple of cycles the UVA thread was at like 50+ pages by this point and far ahead of all the other TTTTT14s. wtf lets get it together

What's up Guys! ED Admit from 1/30! Looking for a decent place to get a 1 bedroom....
Is the Jeffersonian filled up? Their website is confusing...
Ivy looks great too. Any other places I should consider?

Although, to be fair, our FB group is active so a lot of the posting has probably been diverted to there.

I joined the UVA Class of 2015 FB group yesterday, but there don't seem to be any wall posts. I posted just now. Is there another group you guys are talking about? Also, who else is coming to the open house? I'm wondering where is a cheap place to stay, if I don't get to stay with a current law student.

We have two. One is managed by the admissions department, and another by one of our future classmates. The one managed by us has a lot more (i.e. all) chatter than the one managed by admissions. Here are the links:

Ah I see. I just requested to join the student group. It definitely felt weird making the first post on the admissions one...and yeah, I just booked a night at the Super 8, but hopefully I'll get to stay with a UVA student as I sent in the request a few weeks ago.

Re: UVA Class of 2015
Hi all. I’m very excited to move to Charlottesville this summer and especially to meet you folks at ASW in March.
I’ve been reading these boards for a few years since I decided to apply to law school and they were instrumental in my acceptance to UVA as a super-splitter. I have put a deposit down on a 2-BR townhome on Arlington and I’m looking for someone to split rent with over the course of the year.
I will probably eventually post this on the Facebook group, but I wanted to try here first as I think this community attracts a certain type of person with whom I prefer to live.
I’m coming from Vanderbilt undergrad and will have 1 year of work experience by the time we start school. I’m not a gunner but do plan on reading/studying quite a bit, almost all of which will happen at the library, so I wouldn’t require (nor do I want) 24/7 quiet hours at the house.
I consider myself a pretty well-rounded person who likes to have a good time and can enjoy myself across a variety of situations. I like David Foster Wallace and MMA, Call of Duty, pick-up basketball, witty banter and smiting internet trolls. It would be great if my roommate shared some of my interests, but I’ve had roommates with widely divergent perspectives and backgrounds before and I have grown immensely from those experiences.
Send a PM if you’re looking for a place on Arlington (its right across from the Jeffersonian, in between the Barracks Road shopping center and the law school) and we can go from there.
Thanks and looking forward to seeing all of you next year.

Hey Mr. Somebody, I applied for the ASW hosting maybe a week after they opened up the website. Haven't heard yet. I think they mentioned we would hear by March 12th.

When you thinking? - - - Are you going to UVa for sure, or are you scouting the grounds? I may not be able to make it up until well into spring.theduffman wrote: I can't make it (I have a debate tournament that weekend). Interested in setting up another time to go with some UVA admits?

UVA, Duke, and Penn (and likely others) are all having their ASW on 3/23. Kind of difficult for those who are debating between the schools, but I'll see you all at UVA regardless! Wonder if it's intentional competition or just a coincidence though.

I'm about 45 minutes from Penn and already made a visit so my decision is a bit easier (never been to Charlottesville in my life).

I've been inching closer and closer to UVA over the course of the cycle, and now I'm pretty much set! My S.O. got into her PhD program at UVA, so even if I get into a higher-ranked school (I'm waiting on Columbia and Harvard), I'm almost certainly heading there next year!
Looking forward to ASW, btw.
