Anyone possibly looking for a roommate to get a nice-ish two bedroom together with? It seems like in the Berkeley market that if you don't want to live with tons of other people or a small studio the smart thing to do is to maybe get a 2 bedroom apartment with someone cool.

My mom says I'm cool.

I would be interested. It can make it a bit cheaper too.

I've read on here that it would be around 600-800 a month (1200-1600) around Berkeley for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath place.

So, that is pretty good, all things considered.

Now, if I can find a roommate that is cool with, um, "medicating" occasionally on the weekends, then we would be very cool.

Sorry I forgot to come on here for awhile. Yeah there's some great places in town that are 2 bedrooms. My issue is my partner will be moving to Berkeley around April of next year once he's out of active duty in the Air Force. I guess most people wouldn't be comfortable sharing a two bedroom with 2 other people for a couple months till the lease runs out. I'll probably end up having to just get a studio.

I really hope they start telling us about student hosts like previous years. I was totally banking on that and not having to get a hotel.

i'm in! any insight on 1) how financial aid is distributed? 2) what percentage of out-of-state applicants are accepted? if berkeley only accepts 10% of total applicants, i have to imagine that number is lower for out-of-state

Took a while for me in CO, but mostly because it was postmarked 2/21, 5 days after acceptance. You will get an email too asking you to set up a UC ID and stuff, and that is your access to admitted student stuff.

Current students got an e-mail asking for hosts so there will be hosts available but I have no idea if they always have enough for all the attendees. I'm signed up to host somebody.

There are a few hostels in the area or places on airbnb.com if anyone ends up without a place to stay.

Unless you are some special circumstance I don't know about, you get $300 for flying from out of California, $150 if flying from flying in-state.

To drive or to fly to ASW, that is the question.


Driving: 500 mile drive that'll take 8 hours. Pros: I'll have my car. Cons: IT'S 8 HOURS!

Flying: 5 hours + because of a LONG layover at LAX, plus an additional hour to get to Berkeley by Bus/BART. Pros: I'll just sit around waiting. Cons: I'll have to wonder "did I get the right trolley? Is this the right bus? Is this my stop?" etc., oh and walking, lots of walking.

What do you guys think?

if i were you i would drive in a heartbeat bc i don't mind long car rides and you'll have more of a chance to explore.
