Re: Georgetown Class of 2015
When my wife and I visited it seemed great except for the $2700 a month price tag for a 2 bedroom. We definitely want to live in the Capitol Hill/Eastern Market neighborhood.

Capitol Hill/Eastern Market is a fabulous neighborhood. We would live there in an instant.wolf wrote:When my wife and I visited it seemed great except for the $2700 a month price tag for a 2 bedroom. We definitely want to live in the Capitol Hill/Eastern Market neighborhood.
Have you found anything promising for under $2700? That seems consistent with what we have been able to find in the 2BR class. We were looking at a 1BR plus den at Senate Square, and it was closer to $2500.

I've seen quite a few nice 2BR's in the Capitol Hill area (mostly East of 8th St) at/around $2000, but they seem to go very quickly. They look great online (craigslist mostly), but haven't had a chance to see them in-person yet. Also, not sure how south you want to go, but a bit further south in the Navy Yard area you can easily find 2BR's under the $2,000 price point. Here's one for example: --LinkRemoved--

There is a shuttle that goes from campus to senate square, but I do have to say I have gone to a lot of loud parties over there. Also if you're not on the shuttle, going through the Union Station parking lot to get to H street and crossing it with no light is not the most pleasant experience.

I was under the impression that they would let us know on the 14'th. I could be wrong. I really prefer campus housing for the first year.broncos_fan_26 wrote:so the housing lottery is on the 14th... any idea when after we are notified?

The gym in the GULC has racquetball courts. Not the same, but something. Google says there's tennis courts on 4th St. NE by union station.moxy wrote: On a different note .. Does anyone know if there are tennis courts around GULC? Anyone on here play tennis??
Anyone have any idea how many people want Gewirtz? Like two per spot? 1.5?

" In past years, we have been able to accommodate all first year students who requested housing, but we cannot guarantee housing to students. Since first year students are given priority, we are usually only able to accomodate a few students on the 2L, 3L transfer student, and LL.M. waiting list. "

Thanks for this, volsi. It looks like the husband and I are gonna stay in good old SW for at least the first semester. Once school starts, I'll check out some of those loud parties to gauge whether I'm too much of a geezer for the Senate Square lifestyle.volsi wrote:There is a shuttle that goes from campus to senate square, but I do have to say I have gone to a lot of loud parties over there. I'm working on a consulting project that has me living in NYC for all of June and July, so it would have been insane to move this summer anyway. If you want to meet up at the Starbucks inside the Safeway, holla.

Egad--the curriculum preference form link is up on the admitted students site (click on "Academics").
I have been waiting for this day since the very beginning. Fingers crossed for curriculum B/section 3.

I know! My nerves cannot handle that long of a wait. It seems like the curriculum assignment could substantially affect one's first-year experience.luxxe wrote: Ahh thanks! Hoping for curriculum B as well.

Is it true that entry is determined by random lottery of everyone expressing preference, and not on first-come, first-served basis?

That is what they said at ASW. But the housing app deadline & lottery were within a week of each other so I don't know why this is taking so longabstract wrote:I know! I did pretty awful this last semester, passed the classes required for graduation but barely, and did not pass an extra class I foolishly took...honestly previous semester grades were no great shakes either.....any reason to be nervous when I send in final transcripts?

None at all. Also let me answer a question 2 years in advance for you - no, your 2L grades don't matter for your summer associateship. Just don't fail law school classes (hard to do here).benito wrote:I did pretty awful this last semester, passed the classes required for graduation but barely, and did not pass an extra class I foolishly took...honestly previous semester grades were no great shakes either.....any reason to be nervous when I send in final transcripts?

Re: Georgetown Class of 2015
Last year the 1L LRW memo involved some (fake) girl being so upset she didn't get Curriculum B that she quit Georgetown and went to Villanova instead. I found this hilarious.wolf wrote:I'm down for some curriculum B as well.abstract wrote:Egad--the curriculum preference form link is up on the admitted students site (click on "Academics").

But what I am actually saying is non-section 3 class is pretty awesome too. You'll get a good education regardless of curriculum.

you would have to try to fail at GULC...that is, you would have to not show up for your exam

Hey! Apparently the lottery was two days ago (the 14th?), but even though the housing decisions allegedly began being sent out yesterday (though the GULC fb group makes me think that's not the case), I think the consensus is that they aren't all meant to be sent out until like, June?LeninLunchbox wrote:Has anyone heard back about housing? Granted this is all a combination of hearsay from the fb group, some random threads on here, and the timeline presented here: http://www.law.georgetown.edu/reslife/o ... endar.html
So yeah. Take that for what it's worth. Though if anyone HAS heard back, please feel free to correct me!

Hey all!
I hope this isn't out of place, but it seems like there's been a lot of housing posts on this thread. My husband and I are moving to NYC in the fall for law school and are looking to rent out our apartment. Before posting to the wider world, I wanted to see if any TLS-ers might be interested.
The apartment is a one-bedroom in VA, and is about a 5-10 minute walk from either the Rosslyn or Courthouse metro stops. We'd love to rent it out furnished for either the school year or the whole year, for anyone whose moving from out-of-town without a lot of stuff, and it would be $2000/month.
The apartment itself is really nice - stainless steel appliances, marble countertops, hardwood floors, all the furniture is fairly new (purchased over the last few years), and the building itself has a gym. If anyone is interested, PM me and I can send pics or tell you more about the area.

For those of you interested in off campus housing, are you planning on going to DC in June to find a place/sign an August lease, or are you aware of anyone securing housing virtually?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
