Probably after the deposit date for Ruby recipients. Anyone know when that is?
There was another round on March 2 (or at least a mini-round). I was offered one, and I remember reading that at least one other person on TLS was offered one as well. The response deadline is April 2. A related question- the letter says that if we accept, we need to withdraw from all other schools where we've been accepted and where we have outstanding applications (excluding waitlists). I haven't heard back from Yale, which I'm pretty sure is the only school I'd attend over the Ruby. It seems like some people last year were granted extensions, but this year's letter seems pretty firm on the April 2 date. Any other Ruby recipients in a similar situation?
Same situation. The commitment response form that we are required to fill out does ask us to "withdraw any outstanding applications for which you have not received a decision"...I think that might mean GG for Yale if we are still pending by then. It says we can stay on waitlists though. I kinda hope Yale just rejects me so I don't have to make a hard decision. I will be pissed if they let me in on April 1st. I'll probably end up taking the Ruby though.

Poptorts I doubt Kenmek and I are the only ones with April 2nd deadlines. It would seem weird for the first round people to have a later deadline for an earlier award (unless they are just loved more lol?).
Agreed. I believe I made a comment about the 15th of April because that is when the deposit is due. The question I am waiting to be answered is how many more Rubies will be offered and when will deadlines for those be? I now know that it will most likely be after the 2nd of April and possibly after some of us have already paid for a seat deposit.

Any particular reason why people who are waiting for Yale aren't calling and explaining their situation, being more aggressive about it? I figure if they want you enough they will make an effort to be particularly transparent and proactive with one's decision. If they aren't willing to be, then at least you will have an answer or lack there of for you to respond with a "I'll be taking my talents to South Side Chicago", ha ha ha.

Chicago gains nothing by extending the deadline for Rubies. I understand them making the deadline hard and they know exactly what they are doing, trying to gain students that may likely go to Yale, Stanford, Harvard, or Columbia who haven't heard back yet. Yale on the other hand has something to gain by working with you to get a decision to you before the Rubies deadline. They'd only have to be working with less than 20 people, seeing that some of the Ruby recipients have already heard a decision from the other top schools.

I wish you all the best of luck in making a decision that suits you all the very best, as I know there are a lot of differences between some of these top schools and choosing the right one for yourself will make the educational experience all the better. Gotta be proactive or you may always think about the "what if" scenarios.

Last and certainly not least, congrats all Ruby recipients. You're clearly a bunch of studs!

Just checked the box online for Chicago, and the check's in the mail. That makes it feel pretty real.

This is probably a silly question but...

I requested to join the Facebook group a couple days ago and I'm wondering whether I'm supposed to message the admins or something to let them know I'm actually an incoming student? Or is it just that no one really checks the group and they will probably approve me in a few days?

I'd like to figure this out as well. Hopefully in an upcoming email. I think we were told end of May for updated financial aid?

Apparently May 31 is the deadline for applying for the law school discount at Regents - I talked to a manager at Regents today and he really didn't sound like he wanted to budge on that date. Unfortunately I'm not ready to sign a lease yet (mainly because I'm sitting on the HLS WL, which hasn't seen any movement yet, and so in the meantime I'm gunshy about signing a lease), so it looks like I won't be getting that discount. Anyone have thoughts on whether Regents is still worth it without the package? Or should I be looking somewhere else?

Orientation is Sept. 17 - Sept. 24. Here's the academic calendar for other dates. What financial aid information are you curious about?

Beginning of June.

I don't think Regents at the higher price is worth it if you aren't ready to sign a lease. There are plenty of places in Hyde Park to live - Regents is popular simply because it's the easiest option. And even if you decide to live in Regents at a later date, tell them you're not signing a lease without the law student discount. Most places don't rent more than 30-60 days before move-in, so you really have until August to figure out housing.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
