Hey guys, quick question. Sorry if it's been addressed before, but do you have any idea if/when we get Columbia email addresses? I couldn't find the info anywhere.

Like 20 mins. Just skip most of the tutorials and read the short summaries.

Did it last week, the good news is it doesn't take very long. The bad news is if you're anything like me, it'll scare the crap out of you.Elliott_Smith wrote:Everyone get their loan stuff in? I've been lazy

Here is the health insurance waiver criteria: http://health.columbia.edu/insurance/en ... est-waiver
My dad's getting new health insurance, so I'll have to ask him if it meets all the criteria when he gets back home from work... he may not know though since it doesn't kick in until June.

We can only be on our parent's health insurance if we're under 27 IF Obama's healthcare is declared constitutional, correct? I was going to wait to fill out the waiver until we hear the ruling...Bronck wrote:Probably gonna fill it out and send it today...Elliott_Smith wrote:Everyone get their loan stuff in? I've been lazy

Right. I'm waiting for the ruling too. If the ACA gets struck down in its entirety then I get kicked off my parents health insurance and Columbia's plan is probably cheaper than going on COBRA. In any case the decision should come down sometime in June so there's plenty of time before the waiver deadline.gossipgirl wrote:We can only be on our parent's health insurance if we're under 27 IF Obama's healthcare is declared constitutional, correct? My health insurance plan is based overseas, so it looks like I don't qualify for a waiver. Bummer, since I'm already covered to the hilt.
Oh well, whats 6 grand out of a quarter million?
I'll try to get loan stuff filled out tonight.

Yeah, COBRA is really expensive. We've had to use it before, and it just didn't seem worth it for what we got out of it.Boston_NYG2245 wrote:Right. I'm waiting for the ruling too. ooooo just found this...if your parents are in NJ, the law says that if you meet some criteria (no kids, not married), you have coverage under parent's plan in NJ until 31!!Boston_NYG2245 wrote:Right. I think they said housing is done by lottery so the timing of our apps doesn't matter. Also, the handbook says assignments typically come between May 15th and June 15th so we probably have a bit of waiting left either way.

I just got my "application approved" email, so I assume I'm under review?

Quick financial aid question: for the federal loan application stuff due by May 15th, do we just fill out Columbia's federal direct loan request form and then do the electronic promissory note and the federal loan entrance counseling on studentsloans.gov? Is there anything else?

No update for me either, but its good to know that some people's apps are moving, can't imagine that the rest of us will be too far behind.icedflames wrote:salamanders wrote:Elliott_Smith wrote:I just got my "application approved" email, so I assume I'm under review?
