Has anyone received their NYUHome account info yet? I read somewhere that you should receive it around 10 days after sending in your deposit, but it's been almost a month for me

In case this interests anyone... I checked last year's class of thread, and it seems like the NetIDs did not start coming out until sometime in February. Might be different this year?

Re: NYU Class of 2015
Hi guys,
I just got the call from Admissions that they approved me yesterday afternoon, and NYU is definitely one of my top choices, but its going to have to come down to the money for me to decide. Thought I'd join in the celebrations anyway though! My only real doubt is that coming from the West Coast, I've never lived in a more metro area than Portland, OR, so I'm a little concerned about culture/sticker shock. Anybody have any advice on how to acculturate on a budget?

Re: NYU Class of 2015
it will be tempting to go out a lot and sample every food place/vendor you see. I find that some people complain a lot about not having money.. but that's because they spend it all on drinking, eating, shopping, and designer brazilian waxes. many of them don't ever bother to cook since there are so many food options.. but if you make the effort, it is possible to save money by cooking on a budget. and by 'on a budget,' i don't mean whole foods and trader joe's, which is what a lot of people seem to think are the only places to buy groceries in this city. chinatown is a few subway stops away, sometimes there are fruit carts that don't sell only rotten fruit, etc.DJ.Topicality wrote:Hi guys,

besides, you'll be a 1L - you shouldn't have time for anything but studying

Long Island (exit 62), by way of a large school in central Pennsylvania.spakesneaker wrote:90% certain I'll be going to NYU.
just curious- where are you all coming from?
I'm an NYC native- brought up in Queens. currently living with my parents so I can help out with family stuff, but planning to move out soon and find an apartment with a friend. the thing is, our budget is very small so we would probably be living in sunnyside. I'm fine with commuting, just slightly concerned it will affect making friends and deprive me of time that might be spent studying or sleeping. (But I know that #1 reason I'm going to law school is to get a legal job.) so I'm not sure if I should instead wait and use loans and savings to pay out the a$$ for nyu housing. the cheapest option of which is 3br's, for which I could end up getting paired with someone I don't mesh with that well, compared to living with my best friend of 10 years.

I'm sure this varies, but about how expensive is a 3-bedroom apartment in D'ag? I've looked all over the website, seen the floor plans, but can't find pricing anywhere

Re: NYU Class of 2015
Any of you guys submitted the Need Access application yet?
I plan to call the finaid office later this week, but I figured someone here might have experience with this already. I come from a single parent home, and am unable to get in contact with the non-custodial parent. Has anyone gone through this situation? How did you fill out the need access? Did the finaid office require extra paperwork (e.g., letter from family friend, counselor, etc.)?

When I had a question, I emailed NeedAccess. They responded in less than 24 hours. I was bowled over, considering they must be swamped right now at this time of year.

Had the same problem. Called up. They say it takes a few days or so for the system to refresh and recognize the net id and nyuhome log-in.
