It depends a little on the subject and how quickly it changes and how old the hornbook is. For instance, for con law you want to have something that covers the abolition of Roe v. Wade, the whole 2nd Amendment line of cases all the way through Rahimi a couple of months ago, etc; for admin you’d probably want something that’s current through Loper Bright.

That said, you can probably get by through cross-checking against newer versions in your law school library.
