Florida to Reject NCBE's NextGen Bar Exam for 2026

Post by unknownlaw23 » Fri Jul 07, 2023 2:39 pm

As a law student set to graduate in 2026, I am frustrated and relieved by the news that Florida will not adopt the NextGen Bar Exam. On one hand, it means extra time to prepare for the existing version of the bar exam, which is already difficult enough. On the other hand, I'm glad that my law school can make curriculum decisions now, knowing that the traditional bar exam will still be in place. Knowing what to expect is always helpful for students, and I'm grateful that Florida has given us this clarity.

I am excited to see how the NCBE's new NextGen Bar Exam develops and hope that Florida and other states will eventually adopt it. The new format with multiple-choice, short-answer, and essay questions sounds like an effective way to assess our legal skills.

Best of luck to all bar takers in the bar exam preparation journey.
