Law Review Panic
So, I was re-reading my law review paper, and I found three typos. (One saying fact instead of face and two leaving out prepositions.) Everything else seems okay. How worried should I be? I am really nervous that this is going to affect a lot of it. It is 70% score and 30% grades. I'm in the top ten percent of my class. We have 133 students, and they take 30. Thanks!

This seems pretty school specific. Not sure there’s much anyone can tell you besides don’t worry about it since it’s over?

No one knows unless they are on law review at your school (and probably unless they are literally the ones reading your submission). There are so many other things to panic about right now.

We have a 100 point rubric. Spelling & grammar are 10%. Writing skills are 10%. I guess I just have to hope that it doesn't affect anything outside that...

Nothing else for me to panic about. I am worried about my career.cavalier1138 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 12:56 pmNo one knows unless they are on law review at your school (and probably unless they are literally the ones reading your submission). Your career does not hinge on whether you make LR. The kind of thinking where making LR makes/breaks you is going to lead you to unhappy places.proudgunner wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 1:04 pmNothing else for me to panic about. As someone who read LR grade-ons, we’d probably notice the errors but how much they mattered would totally depend on whether the rest of your paper was good. Generally a few are great and a few are abysmal and everyone else kind of floats around in the middle. You can’t know where you stand right now so there’s no point worrying.

Have you considered organizing a strike and getting a second write-on competition so that you can fix this mistake?

FWIW, I missed law review and got COA. Your life isn't over.

+1, Didn't try out for a journal, still got Fed Dist followed by COA. If you don't get it, find another way to invest your time in law school and have something on resume that shows you developed the skills you might have gotten on Law Review. They'll be a few judges and firms that won't look at your app much without law review but your career is far from imperiled.VirginiaFan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 4:32 pmFWIW, I missed law review and got COA. Same. It's not even close to over. It might rule you out of SCOTUS, but that's about it.VirginiaFan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 4:32 pmFWIW, I missed law review and got COA. Your life isn't over.
