3L OCI Interview

Post by PinkSoju » Tue Sep 24, 2019 4:26 pm

Hi everyone. Luckily, I snagged an opportunity to interview for an entry level associate position with a big law firm in my region. However, one of the things that were written on the job posting was that they give preference to a person with a finance background. I do not have a finance background, and I only took 2 classes during my 2L year that were related to corporate transactional/ finance. I was wondering if they called me into the interview not really seeing or reading my resume/cover letter. Also given that I still have to do this interview, I was wondering how to show my interest and passion for corporate transactional work, without course selections to back that up. (I was unable to take secured transaction, corporate finance, M&A because I just couldn't get into the class, and my 1st-semester 3L year, none of those courses were offered). Would the lack of such courses taken be a really big deal breaker?

Thank you
