Asking profs for rec letters by email?

Post by Kenga » Wed Dec 21, 2016 1:37 am

I found a job posting with a deadline coming up and I'm wondering if it would be acceptable to ask my professor for a letter of rec by email. I know it's considered good etiquette to ask in person, but I'm afraid they won't have enough time if I wait until the next semester starts.

Yea, I don't think that's a problem.

I've done this with no issue. The only caveat was that I already had a good relationship with the professor, so it wasn't just a "LOR plz" email out of the blue after a good grade or something.

Offer to meet if they have any questions.
