Shitty LRW grade--how bad are things looking?
Hi all,
Admittedly, I didn't put as much effort as I should have into legal writing this past semester, even though it was worth as many credit hours as my doctrinal classes. I don't think I got a C, but I would not be surprised at a C+/B-. The curve at my school is set at 2.9.
I know to never anticipate an "A" in any law school class because there are so few given out. That being said, I think I performed pretty well, and I also received all A's on my midterms.
Let's say I really luck out and get A's or A-'s on my finals. And I have that C+/B- for LRW. Do employers tend to regard LRW as the most important 1L course? Since it teaches a necessary skill and it's so different from the other courses, would they just auto-ding me upon seeing this less-than-stellar grade? I'm pretty worried because I could have totally put a better effort in LRW and I bet it comes back to bite me in the ass.
Any insight would be appreciated. Happy holidays!!

Literally doesn't matter what you think you got for grades

Even if you don't get a bad grade, this is still a problem.Skyline55 wrote: Admittedly, I didn't put as much effort as I should have

Yeah, don't waste time speculating. Wait until you get your grades. You could have done much better in LRW (and, not to be a downer, but much worse in your doctrinals) than you think. Trying to anticipate grades is pointless.

Ya.. especially first semester. Second semester/2L/3L you may get better at predicting grades (although, not everyone does). You may do better in legal writing, and shitty in classes you think you booked. Nothing you can do now. Just adjust come semester 2. Also, don't let yourself be in a situation again saying "I wish I had put more effort into x class." Particularly in a class like legal writing where input typically equals output (effort = good grade).thegrayman wrote:good or bad, your grades will probably be a surprise.
