Post Bar Exam Trip (Australia/New Zealand)
Looking to make one to Australia and New Zealand. Anyone have any advice as to how/when to go about planning it?

Re: Post Bar Exam Trip (Australia/New Zealand)
You can start now/whenever you have some free time.
The first thing to do is find a cheap flight (remember, you're not yet making that scratch...) and figure out roughly how many days you want to spend on your trip. This is probably dependent on your budget, so start thinking about how much total you're willing to spend.
Then, just browse around forums (tripadvisor, fodor's, etc.) to get a feel for what there is to do/see in Australia and New Zealand generally. It's usually sufficient to google, e.g. "3 weeks in Australia/New Zealand" and tailor suggested itineraries to your interests. It should take you anywhere from a few days to a week to come up with a loose schedule. Once you determine which cities you want to visit, you can begin to book places to stay. Airbnb is great, and usually much cheaper than hotels (especially if splitting the costs amongst friends). Hostels...well, they serve a purpose too, but I'm not a big fan. Scheduling transportation can probably be done in Australia/NZ on the day of travel.
A bit of advice: don't go too crazy with details (at least not yet), and try to keep a somewhat flexible schedule. I've been traveling quite a bit in the past few years, and find that I like to travel at a moderate pace. For me it's about the experience, not how many sights I can cram into an afternoon. You'll also have to deal with jet lag for about 7-10 days, so keep that in mind as you plan.
Hope this helps. No matter what you do, you'll have an awesome trip. Especially if you've got some good mates with you. Relax, don't stress, and try to smell the roses.
Cheers!

I spent 3 months in NZ a couple years ago. PM me for details/questions if you're interested.
