I'm not studying....
So I'm a 2L at a pretty good school, lets say somewhere in the top 6, and have a SA position at a 100% offer firm in corporate work. I have studied for my finals....but not like 1L. I've built pretty robust outlines, but I'm not taking several practice tests. I actually haven't taken any. I've just been outlining questions and reading professor memos.
Is this wrong?
Why do I feel so guilty about watching netflix at 1 in the afternoon the day before a final?

Well I can't say whether it's "wrong", but I'm also T6, 100% offer SA, feel the same way, have almost no motivation to study, and have managed to watch all of Breaking Bad over the past two weeks...
So at least we're not alone?

I was also like you, top 1l grades, 100% firm, got my offer, they later asked for my grades, they noticed a substantial drop and I lost my offer... GO STUDY!!

What's the point of studying? We're all going to die anyway.

I feel like what the OP is doing qualifies as studying.

I appreciate if this is meant to be motivational and so it's a lie - but if this is true, mind saying how big your grade drop was and what firm? I haven't actually heard of anyone saying they lost an offer based on grades and I always want to know which firms actually are grade conscious.mvp99 wrote:I was also like you, top 1l grades, 100% firm, got my offer, they later asked for my grades, they noticed a substantial drop and I lost my offer... Re: I'm not studying....
I'd take one practice test per class after the first year just to work the kinks out. That's more or less what I did my second year, and it didn't seem to affect where I ended up on the curve. If you've already figured out how to take a law school exam, the marginal benefit from taking more practice exams drops off pretty significantly.150orbust wrote:So I'm a 2L at a pretty good school, lets say somewhere in the top 6, and have a SA position at a 100% offer firm in corporate work. I think you're fine but that's mainly because I'm doing the same thing.
I think practice tests are necessary as a 1L, but I haven't found them that useful since then now that I know how law school exams work and what professors want to see.

Haha okay got you. Yeah I'm studying, trying to at least get those B+s. Just no where near as much as 1L year.mvp99 wrote:na j/k but study at least for that B+.. worse than that is embarrassing when you have top grades IMOfelinafelina wrote:I appreciate if this is meant to be motivational and so it's a lie - but if this is true, mind saying how big your grade drop was and what firm? Nope, Uchi.justonefish wrote:top 6 means NYU...R U Classmates?
Which means worst case, even if I get a C, it's really a 173 and no one knows what the fuck that means.

Yeah, does Chicago give out LSAT scores instead of grades? This sounds interesting.NoBladesNoBows wrote:Just looks like a good LSAT score to me.150orbust wrote:Nope, Uchi.

155 or so to 186 scale. 180+ is an A and approx top 20%, not sure about where the B's cut off. But employers outside the big firms in Chicago and NY tend to not know what on earth it means.fkt18 wrote:Yeah, does Chicago give out LSAT scores instead of grades? Re: I'm not studying....
That counts as studying. That's actually very intense for a 2L.
Not studying means no self made outlines, limited reading, no practice exams.
For one of my classes, I don't have a textbook, haven't gone to more than a handfulof lectures, and certainly don't have an outline. But by 3L you're even more accustomed, I suppose.
