The 1L? It really says something to you about Cornell that people who went to undergrad there, but wanted to be law profs, in a field where the huge majority of people who get hired as profs have JDs from HYS, chose to go to HYS over Cornell for law school?

Agreed. And it was also a dick move for ATL to publish it. Why is it even ATL-worthy? Some 1L said dumb things at 3 a.m. on Facebook. If I recall my 1L year correctly, I could find dumb FB statements from my classmates every single night about one topic or another.

I mean, ATL is basically a legal gossip website, of course this kind of stuff will get out. As a student at Cornell, however, I don't think these incidents are that big a deal. They obviously aren't good press but they don't affect the school name or anything, esp. how Dean P handled it.

This isn't a big deal at all. I just wanted to hear more stories about this kid.


Current law students are bad at TLS. Five years ago, not only would TLS have scooped ATL on the story, it would've been much more thoroughly reported and featured prescient analysis for our amusement. Ho hum.

Yeah, this doesn't really seem noteworthy at all. It's not particularly funny or outrageous. It's just some dumb 22 year old being dumb on Facebook.

Same thing happened with a classmate at YLS. Basically had a momentary lapse on our email forum and some jerk sends it to ATL. He lost his offer and had to undergo a lot crap thereafter. We're adults and in law school. People have bad days and do stupid sh*t. If you're concerned with someone's behavior, then direct the information to the correct venue (hint: ATL is not the correct venue). If you publicize it just because you're in the know--that makes you both an attention-seeker and an a**hole.
