Pros and cons of T/Th only schedule?

Post by LitttUp » Thu Jul 30, 2015 10:41 pm

I have 3 classes on Tues (2 hours each) and 4 classes on Thurs (2 hours each). Thoughts?

1st semester 2L.

The only superior schedule would be to only have classes on Wednesday, and that should be pretty self-evident?

I guess the better question is tips/strategies/advice for doing well with a schedule like that. It's hard to stay focused for 8 hours of class. It's also hard to prep for classes like that.

Grades are a social construct.

Probably the same person that comes to TLS for pro/con list for their class schedule.

If you haven't figured out that an already made outline and Barbri video lectures are the tools you'll need for the rest of law school, you're gonna have a bad time

I have had M/W only schedules for 2L (and now all of 3L) and love it. I get to be house husband the other days which is turning out to be pretty cool thus far.

I am again reminded how vindictive, insecure, and mean so much of TLS is. Many of you are just toxic people. Go away.

We are giving you legit advice. If you did well 1L year there is no need to break a sweat over your schedule. Stuff like that will make your experience miserable.

Have fun, within reason.

Vindictive?

I'm not really sure what you wanted here that you couldn't figure out on your own. For a lot of law students a schedule like this sounds like the dream because you only have class a couple days a week. Lots of people don't go to class that often, regardless of what day it is scheduled. Lots of people don't do the readings for class. Only you know how often you're going to go to class and what you are capable of work wise and how much work you plan to put in.

TSL's first post in this thread is just about the best response you could have hoped for.

If it makes you feel better, I tried my damnedest to pull this off. Couldn't quite do it: have a class on Wednesday.

Anyway, yeah, you're fine, OP. But keep in mind I'm a 2L who doesn't know any more than you do, and knows absolutely nothing about your study habits/how you prefer to schedule yourself, etc.

I only have class on M/W this semester. For me, having to be on campus all day twice a week is a small price to pay for getting to sleep in 3 out of 5 weekdays and getting 4-day weekends all semester.

I had a T/TH semester for the second semester of the 2L year and loved it (might have had some class on Wednesday, can't remember--schedule was predominantly T/TH though). I worked part time for a small firm in town for a little extra money and otherwise mostly chilled on my three days off (did some mild prep for class). Obviously did more school work on my days off as we got closer to finals. I actually found that having all my classes bunched on two days made it easier to make myself physically go to class. Only had to actually be on campus for two days a week if I wanted. This turned out to be my best semester grades-wise as well. Its a lot of class for those two days but you'll survive--it'll prepare you for practice!
