COA Externship During Fall of 2L Forum

I'm interested in doing a federal District Court or Court of Appeals (1/2/9) externship during the fall of 2L. Should I just mail my materials in the next few weeks and see what happens? Or should I wait for my spring semester grades? (I feel that it would be too late by June.)

My school sends a fair number during Fall & Spring to 9th Circuit. Would send now, I know that multiple judges have already hired a few for the fall. Big ones on the Ninth that hire for the semester are Kozinski, Reinhardt, Wardlaw, and Ikuta. I think Ikuta and Kozinski have each hired at least one so far for the fall.

But for CDCA/9th, don't wait. Just send now instead of later.
