If you're median at Michigan that's not that bad of a spot you are in line with most of the class. Take some easier classes this time around and get a boost if your school has some good options. At least you know you are in line. Really not that bad of a spot.

Relax. You only have one semester of grades. Go over your exams with your professors, reread GTM, and do a ton of practice exams next semester. Legal analysis -- the sophisticated application of law to fact -- is a learnable skill.

Also you're not screwed yet. You're median at a T14 and hiring is improving. Just focus on grades next semester.

Most people are around median at your school, and most get jobs. This doesn't mean most at median get jobs, but it means you're not screwed. So you're not smarter at a school where most people probably have top 5 percent IQ's. That's horrible. Your life is so hard.

All UofM students are insufferable......

I kid. Sort of. But seriously, I work in a large Detroit firm and we interview a bunch of Michigan grads of late, many of whom have less than impressive grades. The school rank seems to mitigate the lower GPAs of some of these students and gets them in the door for the interview, but once you're in the interview its up to you to impress with personality and the appearance of competence. And UofM alums LOVE UofM, so you'll always get some homers who will like you just for being from UofM.

Also to OP, you're fine. There are plenty of stories on here (mine included) of people at median or a little below/above who manage to shoot up to top 10-15% after the spring semester (and vice versa). Relax.
