Can review for exams be (dare I say it) fun?
Maybe I'm not doing law school the right way if I'm trying to make exam review enjoyable, I think my study group and I have come up with a number of games to help us review for our Contracts and Civil Procedure exam. We've started memorizing concepts via Taboo style with flashcards (where losing team has to do the dishes, etc.) and talking things out as we understand them or not. When doing hypos, we've started a point system based on what our professor is looking for and the person with the most points gets to redeem then for a round once we're done studying.
Yes the material is thick, but I don't understand why law students can't step outside of this "studying is impossible and I'm doomed to fail" mentality that makes it so miserable.

If studying law is fun you are doing it wrong.

If I've learned anything this semester, it's that law students are (collectively) the biggest bunch of whiners ever.
If you enjoy studying, good for you. You came to law school because you, presumably, wanted to be a lawyer. The fact that you find the material intellectually stimulating or at least enjoyable enough to make a game out of it is probably an indicator that you don't completely suck at life.

We'll see how many games you're playing when you're below median.

If you find/make studying for finals fun, great. If you hate studying for finals, great. It's not a competition and there isn't one right way to do it.

Personally, I think most of it is boring as fuck. But I also think Cat Stevens is boring as fuck. If someone wants to tell me that Cat Stevens is a wonderful and inspiring musician, I say good for them for finding enjoyment where I can't. As long as they're not turdish about it (see: most 1Ls that are SUPER into law), hats off to them.

Why do you care how other people feel about studying?Yes the material is thick, but I don't understand why law students can't step outside of this "studying is impossible and I'm doomed to fail" mentality that makes it so miserable.

"Fun" in that you finally get to tie it all together and apply it. Beats being cold-called to recall useless case details from some 1850's English case.
Granted, first exam is Tuesday - may need to edit this after that exam.

Taking practice exams is probably more fun than the rest of law school, but it still fucking sucks.

My concern is just that you may be worrying too much about doing studying a "fun" way and not doing it an "effective" way.

I think if you're the type to start up a commune with your law school study group you're probably the type of person that would find exam prep fun and class material stimulatingcrisgcia wrote:losing team has to do the dishes
