I am unsure how the bar will view this. Is this something I should report to fill the "gap"? or should I leave this part out? I am worried more about the consequences, e.g., the bar reporting me to the depart of labor etc.
No one's gonna tell you to leave it off here. For detailed advice, contact either the bar ethic's hotline, your law school student services department, or a CA ethics lawyer. This thing could impact immigration status, not just your license, so I would highly recommend you contact a lawyer.
