What (if any) softs matter for employment?
Basically I'm asking if I should do moot court, but other insights are welcome also. Law Review seems to be a resounding "yes" if I'm lucky enough to get on. Trial team looks dumb as hell. Street law? Pass. Clinics? Is it just a way to get credits without going to class, or does it matter?

Depends entirely on what kind of job you want to get. Trial team is entirely not dumb if you want to be a DA/PD. Clinics are an excellent way to get actual practice/courtroom experience, also important for DA/PD or for smalllaw, and teach you fuckloads more than a regular class. But biglaw probably doesn't care about anything but grades.

Totally depends on what you want to do. Do you want to litigate? If so, I would strongly recommend any skills-based classes and extracurriculars, as well as interning at courts.

I'm only 3 weeks in but I still keep a candle lit for biglaw as 1a option and gov't agency work as 1b.
On the other hand, I really have no idea what capacity I would want to work in BigLaw so... possibly pointless question.

You'll refine your goals once you get grades and see which doors are closed to you based on your grades/school combo. Government agencies are harder than biglaw in most cases, especially if you're not specialized in the work that agency does.pancakes3 wrote:I'm only 3 weeks in but I still keep a candle lit for biglaw as 1a option and gov't agency work as 1b.

Right now, focus on grades and networking (if you can) in the city you're aiming for. It's the only thing you have a modicum of control over at this point.
