Would business law or health law be a better concentration?
I am a Health Science major with a concentration in Health Services Administration. I have taken the June 2014 LSAT and I am beginning to make a list of law schools to apply to in the Fall. My career aspiration is to become a health law attorney, either working as an in house counsel for a hospital or health care system, or working for a firm that purchases health care organizations and work towards a position overseeing the merging of the new health facilities. As I begin to look at schools, I am unsure if I should focus on health law as my concentration or business law. Some schools do not offer health law as a concentration so I want to spend some time thinking about my concentration now and I am looking for some outside input. Based on your opinion, which concentration would better suit my career goals?

Don't worry about the concentration, worry about the school.

This. Concentrations are largely useless.wingding wrote:Don't worry about the concentration, worry about the school.

Agree with the above 2 posters. You need to get into a good school. Your school rank and then your class rank is far, far important than your "specialization." Also, don't choose a school b/c it offers "concentrations." Focus on its reputation and most importantly, its employment numbers and cost to you.

Do you have any experience with the healthcare field, particularly the legal side, particular the transactional side, other than your undergraduate major?
