Asking for a regrade

Post by lhanvt13 » Wed May 28, 2014 5:03 pm

I wanted to see if I could get a recount/regrade on one of my exams but the professor doesn't seem to know what that means. How do I explain regrade/recount without saying "I want to make sure you didn't mess up"?

Thanks guys

"do you have time to go over my exam with me so I can learn what I got wrong"

she wont say no. and most law schools have a policy, but no professor ever says no.

Does your school allow it?

Just for shits and giggles, how bad is the grade you want regraded.

Agree that you should go in to discuss it. If a big mistake was made, the prof will notice then. If not, sorry about the disappointment.

Below median hah. Just wanted to check since I had a professor last semester come to me and tell me that he made a mistake and he wanted to correct it with the registrar. Just wanted to make sure it doesn't happen again. I don't think I did particularly well but it was my worst grade this semester by a large margin so just wanted to be sure there were no mistakes.

Thanks. yeah, it's more of a paranoia that came due to last semester and my one bad grade. :)

Below median doesn't tell us anything. Give us what median is and what your grade was. If median is B+ and you got a C-, fine. But if it's B+ and you got a B. LOL, you just screwed up bro

Yup that's what I think it is haha. Just wanted to be sure since that was the case last semester where B went to an A- but I know it's extremely unlikely that that's the case again. Can't get too lucky :/ lol

1L here. Rumor that there were significant numbers of people who did this 'going over the exam' shit last semester and got points added to their grade. I have no idea how this works with the curve, but it is not nice.

My school has a specific policy against it except for failure to add up the points correctly or similar mistake.

FWIW, one of my 1L profs refused to go over exams. Rare, but it happens. No harm asking if done tactfully, though.
I believe you, but that's kind of unbelievable. The fact that they can just randomly give you a grade and not have to justify it in any way, shape, or form is crazy to me.

But that's kind of how law school rolls so whatevs I guess.

Usually when this happens people don't get enough points added to actually change their letter grade. The only time I've heard of this working is when the prof did the math wrong.

Lol @ even asking for this. The prof will regrade and go, "Yep, I got it right. You got a B-." Unless there was a problem where he missed you entire answer to a question, don't get your hopes up. Every special snowflake 1L thinks there was a mistake with their low grades. That's just the way it is. Even asking for a regrade is an act of ridiculous hubris.

Had a professor enter my grade wrong last semester so that's why I'm asking. That professor fixed the mistake. I'm just making sure that doesn't happen again. Sorry :/

I'd probably do the same thing if I had a bunch of annoying gunners asking me to change a B to a B+

I got a C+ in torts last semester. I was SHOCKED. No fking way I said.
Asked the prof to go over my test. Turns out she skipped a whole page of my exam. It just wasn't there somehow.
Regraded to a B+.

Still didn't read a single word here besides the title.

A regrade? Bro. C'mon. Be ready the first time.

Guess I wasn't ready. Just wanted a double check because there was a mistake last semester with one of my grades (administrative mistake) so I'm just being overly cautious this semester. Didn't ask for a regrade last semester but when I went in the review the exam, the professor found that he entered the wrong grade into the gradebook.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
