What looks better on a resume?
Hi guys, just curious as to what looks better on a resume (for during 2L year)- a spot on a secondary journal of a subject you're not interested, or working part-time for a small firm doing work you ARE interested in during the 2L year? Will employers care to hear about why you chose a part-time gig over a journal? Thanks!

Re: What looks better on a resume?
My guess is that the work will look better even if it's at a small firm part-time, because it will show potential employers that you have some real world experience. Also if all else fails maybe that firm will be interested in hiring you when you graduate.
Question: Could you not do both?

Unfortunately, right now it's looking like I would not be able to do both, but who knows. I am just trying to keep options open before making a decisions. Also, FWIW, I'll also be TAing a class next year and working with a professor. I just want to make sure that potentially turning down a secondary journal isn't hurting my resume given the other options on the table

Goal: gainfully employed. I like transactional work so far, which is the work I'm doing this summer and next year part-time should I choose that path

Yeah it sounds like the best bet would be to take the part time work (providing you don't get an SA or anything like that). Dedicating your 2L summer to the kind of work you want to be doing after schools seems like TCR.
