SEC or State AG internship?
I need to decide if I want to work for an SEC regional office (Philly) or my state AG office (in the city where I hope to ultimately live/work. I am interested in doing financial regulation/securities regulation, but I'll take any job I can in the current market. I go to school out of state, so the AG internship is the only real opportunity I would have to network in my city of choice, but the work isn't substantively what I really want to be doing (more tax/litigation experience than I want). Thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

SEC would probably look much better for recruiting purposes. Unless you want to do like DA work.

Depends on how confident you are in your ability to land a job in the city you're most interested in living/working in. Also gotta consider your level of commitment to the fin/sec regulation sphere.
thought processes from your perspective might be something like:
(A) "Above all else, I'd rather work/live in the city the AG office is located in." ----> take AG to build the tie/start networking
(B) "Above all else, I want a job in financial/securities regulation." -----> take SEC and build that experience
If you feel that you'd be able to land a job in the city the AG office is in WITHOUT building the connection by actually being there for an extended period of time, then take the SEC job.
A lot of grey areas to consider between both extremes. Ultimately I think it comes down to choosing one of those thought processes, or at least better defining how your options are limited by choosing one over the other and reevaluating based on that info.
