I submitted my Moral Character App on 1/14 and received my determination letter on 2/20. I have no convictions or anything, but I heard if you do, it can take several months.

Mine took over seven months. No arrests, convictions, or any other issues. Sometimes it just takes a long, long time.

I have a handful of friends that received clearance in one, two, or three months. It's all so weird. I think the shorter your work history, and the more easily-verifiable your past employment, the quicker it usually goes. But in general, it's just really unpredictable, and all would be well-advised to submit their stuff ASAP (if you haven't already).patogordo wrote:their website says it takes six months minimum

yea i mean at minimum i assume they have to receive all the packets from previous employers and whatnot. i have an absurdly long work history so that will probably take forever for me.Tangerine Gleam wrote:I have a handful of friends that received clearance in one, two, or three months. I think OP is asking about the acknowledgement, not anything saying you passed.
I submitted mine to CA in October, and the acknowledgement took about three months. It was fabulous. Still waiting on clearance to be declared moral. It was those F&$*ing parking tickets, wasn't it.
(for those of you hyperventilating now, no, parking tickets generally don't get you black-marked...if you pay 'em)

It took me significantly longer to even get my acknowledgment. Don't sweat it for another 3-4 months, OP.lisavj wrote:I think OP is asking about the acknowledgement, not anything saying you passed.

Re: Moral Character App - Acknowledgment letter??
I passed within 5 weeks... submitted in February and just got the letter yesterday. I was very shocked, because I'm a bit older and had a lot of work history and a personal reference living abroad. But I guess everyone responded quickly.
