Why do you want to leave California? Any ties to NY? Can you apply to your SSC before being barred, and if you get a clerkship you can take the Feb 2015 bar if necessary?"

Well if you can do the Feb route, I'd do that for the SSC. As for where to be barred, if you want to work in DC post fellowship, then I'd go for VA/MD. I have no experience with VA/MD, fwiw.

Take it in the flyover state. You might need it someday, and it's probably easier to pass. I really wish I would have done that.
