New York Bar Logistics

Post by huckabees » Fri Feb 21, 2014 11:00 am

Can anyone with experience comment on the personal belongings check for the NY bar? Are the lines really long and is it really as unsafe as they make it out to be? I'm planning on retrieving some of my stuff during lunch break.

Also, I heard no hoodies. Is this true?

Finally, has anyone taken it at Armory Track? It'd be interesting to take the bar on a track & field, but I'm guessing that's not what's in store.

1. It looked like most people didn't bother checking their stuff at my location (Buffalo), and so there weren't long lines. That said, it might not be easy to retrieve stuff during lunch. If you drive, its better to just leave stuff in your car, or get a hotel in walking distance.

And no hoodies is true. Don't fuck with the rules, just be safe and follow them.

At the jacob javitz center the lines were insanely long. Even the bathroom was like a 45 min line. The coat check didn't seem unsafe though.

I don't recall whether or not they enforced the no hoodie rule.

Depends where you take it. If you aren't in NYC, you can easily get a hotel within walking distance, which should eliminate any need to do coat check.

I ate lunch in my hotel room both days, it was a nice quiet break that was very welcome.

As a side note, if you plan on taking the exam in Albany/Buffalo, you really should make your hotel reservations soon. That way you can ensure being in walking distance.

I made mine in late April and it was a bit close -- made fully refundable stays in both Albany and Buffalo, and then canceled the one I didn't go to when I found out what city I would be in.

What are the locations of the Albany and Buffalo testing centers so I know what hotel to make reservations at?

Last year was:
Westchester - Pace Law School/Judicial Institute
Albany - Empire State Plaza and Times Union Center (I believe there were two)
Saratoga - Saratoga City Center
Buffalo - Buffalo Niagara Convention Center

If you guys take it in buffalo I can recommend the Adam's Mark. It's 5 blocks or so away, the rooms are adequate but the lounge is quite nice.

Coat check in buffalo was "at your own risk" kinda thing.
