Re: fuck civil procedure
What specifically are you having trouble with? Civ Pro isn't hard at all. The jurisdiction stuff is very concrete and most of the rules are pretty unambiguous.

also, i want to put this in here, Civil Procedure is the Latin, the mathematics, the rigorous logic of the law. It unfolds in a beautiful, haunting symmetry; its sharply unfolding mechanics like a heaven-spun clock. if you couldn't understand its majesty, then there is nary a chance for you in the field of law.

Re: fuck civil procedure
I love it when people on this board take it upon themselves to proclaim that certain 1L classes are "easier" and "harder" than others. Everybody's different. Anyway, maybe the OP just finds civil procedure boring as shit. I sure did.

Re: fuck civil procedure
I see no problem with the occasional new thread to vent about your least favorite class, though venting can easily happen in an existing thread, too.
I think civ pro isn't as doctrinally difficult as the other 1L classes, but a shitty prof can ruin any class. My civ pro prof certainly did.

Civpro wasn't that bad all things considered. The issue spotters are usually pretty straightforward. You pretty much know there will be joinder, jurisdiction, venue, Erie, and a few curveballs here and there. Fact-wise there is generally less room to be creative

Re: fuck civil procedure
Here's how I should have responded:
I probably found CivPro the most unfamiliar of all the classes I took in law school because personal jurisdiction was for me the first time I had to deal with the Supreme Court's shenanigans. All it takes is one person - mainly looking at you J. Stevens - to ruin a whole line of cases (stream-of-commerce, tag jurisdiction, etc.) In addition to that, personal jurisdiction seems to give you so much room to build argument and operate thats its almost uncomfortable because you have only a limited amount of cases to extrapolate from. Anyway, I think it is probably one of the more unique classes so if its not your best I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it (unless oyu got a D). Classes like property, torts, contracts tend to have more of a shared skill-set than CivPro.

Re: fuck civil procedure
Civ pro had the most convoluted case I've had to read in law school. I want to say it was Pennoyer, but that's probably not the right case. The rule was simple enough, but the decision was poorly written.

Re: fuck civil procedure
I didn't want to put in the time to really memorize a lot of the rules in Civ Pro 2. Worst grade in law school. But I don't hate it.

Re: fuck civil procedure
I agree that Civ Pro isn't all that difficult.
That being said, you all go to law school, so presumably you're aware of these things called "curves." Easier classes end up being more susceptible to gunnerdom / more random because everyone basically gets it.
Also, fuck con law for the same reason.

Re: fuck civil procedure
I LOVED civ pro. There are rules. It is so nice and easy to follow, particularly compared to literally every other area of law where judges just make things up as they go along.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
