What age do you wish to be married (those going to biglaw)?
29 is US average for men.
I want to marry a woman of the same age but I heard all the beautiful women are married by 25.

Re: What age do you wish to be married (those going to biglaw)?
It depends on where you live. All of my friends from growing up (SF bay) think I'm a nutter for being willing to get married before 30. All of my friends from college (IN) are either married or not interested.
Anecdotally, I'm pretty. My guy and I are waiting to see whether I clerk or not before marrying (if clerk, must IBR and the ability to IBR with spouse income is never certain).
Also, please let this be a flame. Otherwise I just feel deep and abiding sadness for someone who thinks national average is a valid indicator of when you should get married.

This is true. Unless we get married while in school, those of us who choose to pursue careers in the law must forego the life-long companionship of a beautiful woman.Veni_Vidi_Vici wrote:29 is US average for men.

Why do you want to marry someone the same age as you?

Yeah, if want a beautiful girl you are going to need somebody much younger than that. By 25 she is already on her downward spiral and you have missed all her good years.courtneylove wrote:lolVeni_Vidi_Vici wrote:but I heard all the beautiful women are married by 25.

Before age 40. Preferably to someone under age 30.

It's clearly most important to choose the right age for marriage. The person you marry doesn't really matter.

This is true. But I don't know what that has to do with your age.Veni_Vidi_Vici wrote:29 is US average for men.

Well, you probably want to do it early, so you can get the first divorce out of the way before you have nice stuff.

Re: What age do you wish to be married (those going to biglaw)?
I plan to get married soon after starting as a big law associate. My relationship with my girlfriend has been strained due to the time demands of my third year of law school, but my firm has told me, many times, that it strives to provide associates with a work-life balance.
I will probably wait until I am a third-year associate to have children because by then I should be past the hard part.

My Dad's advice. All the beautiful women ARE married by 25. However, they are all divorced by 30 and are hell bent on finding some nice quality man poon (4th year associate at S&C sounds quality to me
).
