Absolutely read it. You can read it in 1 day. It's worth devoting a day to a month out, but don't use it as your key supplement. But out of the 2 people I know who read it, they got 2 of the 4 a's in a class of 30-something. It reads like a story, and leads to a deeper understanding of some of the harder concepts.Tom Joad wrote:Chirelstein is a good overview of Ks, but it isn't very nuanced and I doubt it covers everything you do in class.

hey, we have torts this semester, can I get some supp recs from you fall torts alums
our casebook is Schwartz if that makes a difference.
I used the torts e & e and that was all I really needed. It's a pretty straightforward subject, but I think there's value in working through the problems that the e&e gives you if (like me) your professor didn't have any exams on file for you to work through.

Credited, from discussions with other people. Torts is the class for which you least need a supplement, but honestly why not take advantage of a good supp?thelawschoolproject wrote:lrslayer wrote:

Bro, on a separate issue, I heard our con-law Prof specifically said in a "how to do well in law school" thing last semester that she doesn't like students using supplements, can tell that students read Chirelstein when reading their tests, and takes that into account when giving them a grade on that exam. I'm so fucked.Bronck wrote: I used Chirelstein. Didn't find it particularly useful though. He did a pretty good job of clearing up the BLL, but it wasn't anything earth shattering.

I specifically emailed her about whether she recommended the Chemerinsky supplement and she told me "yes".shumpshump wrote:Bro, on a separate issue, I heard our con-law Prof specifically said in a "how to do well in law school" thing last semester that she doesn't like students using supplements, can tell that students read Chirelstein when reading their tests, and takes that into account when giving them a grade on that exam. ETA: I remember that discussion (went to it), and I just recall her saying something along the lines of "Chemerinsky will say that Issue X requires A, B and C. I can tell kids used Chemerinsky in class if they say the same thing , even though I said it requires A, B, C and D." Or something along those lines.

I think Chirelstein will be useful since it should cover what we cover. But, I think just pay attention to any places where she [maybe doesn't distinguish] but says things a little differently.shumpshump wrote:Oh what?? THANK YOU SO MUCH. For all those who are in Property this semester, you should definitely check out this little gem for possessory estates and future interests (if you're covering that).

Con Law is ROUGH. I got the May & Ides E&E. Are there any other supplements people would suggest? I would like a shorter/more concise version that gives me the absolute necessary points over the early, key cases. (Sorry if this was earlier in the thread. If it was, I must have missed it.)

Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread (CSWS)
After a few weeks of this semester, where we have electives, I've realized I got really lucky with my section. The others all seem like they're full of gunners, while mine doesn't really have any (well, 2-3 that maybe are gunners, but aren't particularly bad IMO).

I am on that legal memo grind as well! I wish that I would have put a little bit more time into this over the break as opposed to 5 days before it is due.Jsa725 wrote:i feel your pain... apparently nobody in the legal profession uses client letters anymore, ya know, they call or emailgaud wrote:with my client letter, yes. fuck my life.Jsa725 wrote:any CSWS'n out there today?

I have a feeling my ungraded brief/oral argument is going to be a huge time sink which I will regret come grade season.
