Checking in bros.
T-30 until finals.
Today, I am finishing additional supplemental reading to close any further gaps in my knowledge. This week, I am drafting flowcharts (based on the Crunchtime series) to properly synthesize all information. (To all my bros having trouble using the LEEWS method in Ks, flowcharts help set up a starting point.) If you want in on this, let me know.
My outlines are between 20-30 pages, so I will be crafting one-page attack outlines. I am using class time effectively. I am going to use that time to type my outlines ten times each.
Then the next four weeks include Q&A hypotheticals, Crunchtime hypotheticals, CALI, and practice exams. 14 hour days starting tomorrow, let's go.
That's my cake winner, baby. You know it.
Edit: And I am outlining the Possessory Estates and Future Interests Primer if you bros want in on that. Warning: Writing these things down yourself > re-reading it.

Checking in.
Hardly started outlining, but I have yet to find someone in my section who is further than I am.

Re: OFFICIAL 1L Exam Prep & Motivation Thread
Bros I have a real dilemma and am taking advice. I currently live with my GF, and she is starting to become really antsy about the lack of time we have been spending together over the last couple of weeks. I keep telling her it is only going to get worse before it gets better, she keeps saying that she understands, but the next day she will again say she is so alone, I don't love her, she doesn't know why we live together etc. I am considering moving back to my parents house for the reminder of the semester. My parents house is only a short train ride from the school, so it would not be that much of a hassle. I am just getting really stressed out, and if she keeps on nagging me like this it will not end well.
TL;DR: I live with my GF, my stress level is rising as well as her nagging for us to hang out more, and I am considering moving back to my parent's house for the remainder of the semester.
What would my 1L brothas and sistas do in this situation?

I'm going through something similar. Try to remind her that this will likely be the worst year, and that it's nearly halfway gone. Also, you've got to convey how important this is for your entire career. If she still keeps up the "you don't love me" crap, cut her loose bro.

sit down explain to her once more... then decide
edit: GF's may or may not be forever..... 1L grades are permanent
edit part 2: make a vacation plan w/ her now for post-exams... she will have something to look forward to and will be happy that you thought of her.
I recommend spending a little time with her each day, even if it's just half an hour for dinner and a foot rub. Hopefully she'll appreciate that you're not totally lost in studying, and with any luck she won't bother you during the other 23 1/2 hours of the day.

Other than outlining, how are people preparing for exams?
I am almost through with GTM, and have a practice torts exam scheduled for tomorrow. My profs are all releasing 1 past exam.

Keep on prioritizing studying but try to do nice things for your gf to show her you still care. They don't have to be time-consuming at all; Bring her home flowers and tell her, "I appreciate how understanding you're being of my busy schedule." Find other ways to acknowledge that you appreciate her rather than bitching about how she nags you. Compliment the shit out of her. She'll stop nagging you and you'll both feel a ton better about yourselves (Bro).swimmer11 wrote:Bros I have a real dilemma and am taking advice. Outlining: I used my professor's old exams as roadmaps and GTM forksminnbills wrote:Other than outlining, how are people preparing for exams?

Attack outline: Flowcharts help me create a one-page attack outline
Memorization: Typing outlines, CALI
Writing: LEEWS
Hypotheticals: Siegel's, Q&A, Crunchtime
Practice exams: Old exams
Edit: Property bros: Watch out for the Fair Housing Act. It prohibits discrimination in landlord-tenant relationships. A big exception includes single-family residences rented/sold without a real estate agent.

Alo curious about this in general, but also wonder about my own situation...minnbills wrote:Other than outlining, how are people preparing for exams?

I feel like in terms of keeping up with my reading/outlining, I think I'm doing good. Still keeping a day or 2 ahead in the reading whenever possible, and I can probably get my outlines up to where we are in classes over this week. My problem where I feel I may be setting myself up for failure is I haven't really done much with any outside materials. Haven't even read GTM even though its been sitting on my shelf for almost 2 weeks now, and only read through 2 chapters of the Glannon E&E for Civ Pro. My strategy to hopefully do well on exams has basically been to look through past exam answers (luckily I have at least 3 in all my classes) and use those to figure out how to answer my professors answers, and then basically rely on my own intuition, rather than reading up on all the best law school exam strategies and whatnot. I guess my fear is that this will leave me underprepared, and maybe I should be focusing more on supplements to help me learn the law and exam strategies.

I would definitely read GTM. I am sooo much better at spotting issues now that I've read it.
