Tips for VA bar exam?

Post by desperate4lawschool » Sat Oct 20, 2012 4:06 pm

Hi - I'm taking the VA bar in February for the first time and wanted to get tips from past takers. I hear it's one of the hardest in the country, so any recommendations/help would be appreciated. What I am most afraid of is that BARBRI won't prepare me enough, especially for areas I did not take a class in (e.g., Conflict of Laws, Creditor's Rights, Wills and Estate Admin).

start studying wills and trusts now. made up 3 of the 9 questions in July, though perhaps that means they won't hit it so hard again.

study equity. not as critical as it used to be after recent law changes but still very important in VA.

know crim law/pro and VA distinctions cold. should be easy points.

family law trips people up too and there was a pretty complex divorce Q in July.

I felt well-prepared with Barbri and passed. The MBE is another story.
