Missed a Mandatory 1L Meeting Forum

Something about my state's board of bar examiners coming and talking to the school. Completely skipped my mind and reminders were sent via e-mail the day of the meeting, which I didn't check until now (Don't check my law school e-mail daily). Associate Dean of Student Affairs e-mailed me today asking if I attended and that I didn't sign the attendance sheet.

Surely they won't punish me for missing this? My school is pretty strict about attendance. They still pass out an attendance sheet for every class.

Similar stuff at my school. They will make you do something to make up for it without a doubt. Just do w/e it is they make you do and keep a better track of stuff in the future.

My school had a bunchload of "mandatory 1L chats" with the dean. There were four during the first semester; I went to none of them. During christmas break I received an email from the dean of the school telling me that as a law student I have certain obligations to meet and that I have to be professional. She told me that I needed to attend future meetings.

I went to one during the spring semester to get her off my balls. That was it. Out of six meetings throughout 1L I went to one. Nothing happened except a sternly written email. Although, I suspect that I made my dean's shit list, but that's a topic outside the scope of this post.

At my school, checking your email constantly is worth it just for the free food you can score.

I found out at my school that missing mandatory events had no consequence. They said generally, "come to such and such office and sign this form.". Pretty much a free out.

Very, very, very few things are "mandatory" in law school.

A friend of mine just started at HLS, so I was looking over their orientation schedule for kicks and noticed that one of the "MANDATORY" events they have to attend is a...class picture.

Unless it says that a note will be made on the transcript if you do not attend, or you cannot participate in OCI if you do not attend, then you probably do not have to attend.

just set your school email to auto-forward to whatever email address you normally use
