Selecting Classes for the Fall: What to look at

Post by jd20132013 » Sat Jul 14, 2012 12:07 pm

It seems to me that there are four factors that affect whether it makes sense to take a class

1. the professor
2. the grading format
3. class subject
4. availability of previous outlines/practice exams

What's your ranking of the importance of these factors? For me, it's very important that the final be an inclass exam - take homes are not my style. But its also important to me that there be previous outlines/practice exams available.

Because of this i'm having a lot of troule picking classes for the fall...

Sometimes, if you want to take a certain course, you should consider just taking it regardless if it would help you with your career plans.

As for ranking those topics for people that aren't closely interested in what topics they take, I guess:
1. The availability of old exams
2. The grading format
3. The topic
4. The professor

My criteria:

1. Topic
2. Grade Format
3. Professor (Somewhat intertwined with grade format when ya think about it)
4. Availability of old outlines / practice tests
5. Ease of scheduling the class now vs. later semesters
6. Do I need to come to school on Friday?

My biggest priority:

take home exam or 4 hour exam? Through 4 semesters of law school, I have an even 4.0 on take home exams.
