Whenever we have those there is always a ridiculous word limit (like 3k).Dale wrote:Since 1st semester was all B+ and A- (hopefully no worse than median), this exam period was like living in drama-o-rama-land. LR way out of reach but not out of reach of the bottom percentage.
We had one 24-hour online exam, most every question had a dozen parts, so I am not expecting the prof to zip through with results anytime soon.

Oh no, this again. I know it's too early for my grades to show up, but of course I went and looked. This will be me for the next few weeks, though I'll be peeking through my hands because I also kinda don't wanna know.

All grades released in early June and none before the curve is set. Fun!

They relaxed our curve this semester, so I'm hoping this set of grades won't be the absolute shitshow I'm expecting. The one I'm dreading most was also my first exam, so this is going to be fun. Considering not checking until they've all been posted, so I miss out on all the agonizing and endless GPA calculations of the in-between times.

Anyone having major grade anxiety? I am very worried that I will drop. Even though I worked twice as hard as I did last semester.

Word count here. Do you have any recollection if exam results were greatly delayed? It seems like it takes forever to get exam results from reg tests. . . cannot imagine what the time period is for this!shoeshine wrote:Whenever we have those there is always a ridiculous word limit (like 3k).Dale wrote:We had one 24-hour online exam, most every question had a dozen parts, so I am not expecting the prof to zip through with results anytime soon.

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
Random question but did anyone have a weirder set of test formats than this for 1L?
1) four-hour in class exam with no word limit (4 essay question)
2) four-hour in class exam with no word limit and 20 MC (3 essay questions)
3) four-hour in class exam with 2.5k word limit and 20 MC (2 essay questions)
4) eight-hour take-home exam with 2.75k word limit (3 essay questions)
5) twenty-four-hour take-home exam with 2.5 word limit (3 essay questions)
6) twenty-four-hour take-home exam with 3.5k word limit (2 essay questions)
Kind of felt like my section was the experimental group.

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
Also, two of the word counted exams had word counts per question. The other two had a general word count for the entire exam. Here I was thinking (coming in as a 1L) that all law school exams were in-class typing competitions

the worst exams are the ones where you have to use a size 14 font double spaced and strct page limits per question

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
I think it's worse when you are given a word limit of 2.5k words for three essay questions but not specific word count limits per question. That word count is not only pretty restrictive but also makes you wonder how much you should write per question (e.g. is it ok to write 1k words for this question to get my really good points across and sacrifice a few hundred words for this other question?).

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
Got legal writing back. Medianpwned again. Not surprising, though - I've gotten median on every single assignment both semesters for legal writing. At least I'm consistent, I suppose.
Waiting on rest. Had 1 traditional issue spotter, 1 issue spotter with a tight word limit, and 1 take home exam. Felt good on most, but who knows. I'm expecting to drop from last semester. Hopefully not too far.

And, I love take home exams. It allows a much more thorough and analytic response to the question. Asinine study tactics, like rote memorization, are useless for take home exams. They really focus on what's important.

Not a fan either. I'd rather do an in class or an 8 hour take home any day.ilovesf wrote:I hate them.northwood wrote:is anyone not a fan of 24 hour take home exams?

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
LOL. This would not work for us because our exam software only gives a word count (which many people I have spoken to weren't even aware it did).Shammis wrote:Exam Tomorrow doesnt have a word count - we are limited to 23,000 Characters - Lol just lol.
I still have one final left. From what I hear grades sometimes start to trickle in this week for 1Ls, though generally most aren't released til closer to the end of May. I can't wait to get my brief back after my final on Tuesday. We turned them in the last week in February, so it's been waayy too long.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
