Jurisdiction Question

In federal courts, appellate jurisdiction over an appeal from a criminal sentence is under 18 USC 3742, or 28 USC 1291? Or both?

I think both. But for 1291, final would mean conviction and sentencing. Don't know about 18 USC 3742 though.
