Write a brief, then argue it.

They sent out a memo saying I get 1 credit per competition I enter. It's going to be really hard not to phone it in with no effort requirement.

Congrats on making the team. I tried out and I was told I didn't make it. Makes me wish I would have tried harder.

My school had a mandatory first round...I wouldn't have tried out if it was optional.

so did ours. My team lost in the double octa round, which was next round up from mandatory. But then I tried out for the official team too and didn't make that one.
Side Question- Does not being on moot/mock trial mean I'm out for litigation firms that like to see that on resume's?

It's my understanding that only law review matters that much.

There isn't a single self-respecting litigation firm that cares about moot court/mock trials.merc280 wrote:Side Question- Does not being on moot/mock trial mean I'm out for litigation firms that like to see that on resume's?

LR with no moot court here, but I think the whole "moot court doesn't mean shit" contingent overstates things sometimes. Especially as it relates to smaller firms. And especially if you distinguish yourself in some way in the competition.
Smaller firms want associates that are going to be able to hit the ground running. Handling court appearances in smaller matters is a part of that. Doing well in moot court shows, at least to an extent, that you're capable of handling yourself in an oral advocacy situation. Don't see how that's not a positive.
