Nope, being valedictorian will be your cross to bear for the rest of your life. Sorry.

Re: Is it possible???
That doesn't even make sense.
I know people think this is some sort of troll, but it isn't.
Isn't it within the realm of possibility that a person doesn't want accolades, doesn't want to give a ridiculous speech and doesn't want people making a big deal out of something that is completely subjective and relatively arbitrary at the end of the day?
Is there not some other way to turn down the "honor" without skipping graduation?
It's not like its a life-long achievement that is going to matter in the long run. In fact, in this market, I doubt if it will even make that big of a difference in the short term.

The world is so meaningless and arbitrary any way, you may as well just end it all.

If you have a student affairs office or someone who counsels students, just tell them that you don't feel comfortable with public speaking.

Re: Is it possible???
I suggest the OP take advantage of the valedictorian speech to uphold Camus's idea of "absurd creation" or whatnot. Talk about how being a valedictorian still doesn't give you even the slightest shadow of hope.breadbucket wrote:The world is so meaningless and arbitrary any way, you may as well just end it all.
And once you're done with that, be like Woolf's Miss La Trobe, and turn a mirror on the audience.
It will mean so much to them all.

We are the least informed people that you could possibly turn to with this question. You would sincerely get a better answer from Yahoo answers. Or from asking my dog.

Hold up a boombox, standing motionless while it plays the song "Don't Stop Believing" and then, once the song is over, calmly exit the building without saying a word.
They will never forget you.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
