I got a 4.21 GPA in my first semester (t2). What now? Forum

I'm not even sure how I did it. I knew I was going to keep my full scholarship (& stipend), but when I checked my grades and saw two A+'s and two A's I was genuinely surprised. I haven't decided whether this puts more or less pressure on me to do well this semester...

But the reason for my post is, what can I do with a high GPA in terms of finding employment? I'm meeting with my career counselor tomorrow afternoon so she'll probably be able to tell me, but it's only a 20m appointment and I'd like to show up prepared. I would really love a paid internship this summer; is that a possibility?

Congratulations. If you are at Brooklyn, transfer to Yale, Harvard or Columbia. In that order of preference and degree of difficulty.

I don't think I want to transfer, to be honest. I'm comfortable here and I don't like change - plus I would hate being the stupid kid in class.

What can I expect in terms of summer employment, though, given my grades?

Errr... You pulled a 4.21... Doubt you'd be the stupid kid in the class... Just sayin...

People at higher ranked schools just worked harder in undergrad and happened to do well on one standardized test. Knowing how to write an exam has little to do with either of those things. Also, I've heard that transfers tend to do very well in their new schools (just anecdotal evidence but still). At some point, a good student is a good student.

Congratulations, OP. It looks like you've got natural talent and a decent work ethic to boot. Some people here are going to interpret your post as being douchey, but I can see where you're coming from. You're just trying to figure out how far you can go with those fantastic grades.

Keep at it. It'd be nice if you could later on create a new thread when you decide you want to transfer but want advice on where to transfer to.
