note PANIC
this is a place to freak out about how behind you are on your note. our 40-page rough draft is due in a week, and i have done very little. it seems overwhelming, and i can't seem to break it into smaller steps. anyone else feeling like they might not finish???

72 hours to completely re-write mine! Fuck it. This thing won't be published so I don't give a fuck anymore.

I'm not sure that you should be striving for or looking forward to the complete re-write stage.somewhatwayward wrote:ugh i haven't even gotten to that stage yet...

Re: note PANIC
Question: how little work on your note is allowed before it becomes a problem? How bad are these things allowed to be? My revised plan is to put in as little work as possible without it having major adverse affects (like, for example, on the likelihood that I could land a board position, which at this point in the year I consider decent, but not great).

How do you guys know you need a complete re-write? Was this something your editor advised?

Re: note PANIC
They did not ask for a re-write, but the comments were such that they can only be complied with by basically re-doing the whole thing. I'm also being a little dramatic because I don't want to do it anymore.eliekedourie wrote:How do you guys know you need a complete re-write? Was this something your editor advised?

I'm using my note to troll my professor. Each draft has a different, commonly used word purposely misspelled throughout. Coupled with intentional incorrect bluebook citations - again, different for each draft.

Your professors actually read drafts?Always Credited wrote:I'm using my note to troll my professor. Each draft has a different, commonly used word purposely misspelled throughout. Coupled with intentional incorrect bluebook citations - again, different for each draft.

turned in final draft of my Note on tuesday. there's an optional (if you didn't "fail") "resubmission deadline" in a month, but i'm very much hoping that i won't be playing that game.

Re: note PANIC
so it's due in T-16 hours....thank god
one thing i am wondering about is, how much is the writing style in a note supposed to be like the legal writing we learned in LRW versus like social science papers we wrote in college....mine is definitely erring toward the latter

2nd draft due tomorrow. just got around to reading the comments from the first draft this morning. lolololol.
i actually really like my topic, but i despise in general this academic, head-scratching writing. i would much, much rather write a brief or memo.
