it's the pointlessness of law school that's eating at me. I'd rather be doing doc/code review. Seriously.

No offense, r6, but this is ridiculous and it's pretty clear you've never done doc coding. It's not exactly an activity that makes you feel like you have a purpose in life.

My purpose in life doesn't have to be derived from work, so it's ok regardless of what I do for work (I do plenty outside of work/school to give me purpose). I am used to putting in my 8/10/12 hours a day to be productive and make a living, which I am not doing right now.

ETA, I am ok with code review, which is most likely as mind numbing as doc review.

that's weird.

my section is full of gunners and everyone seems to have done well...which can't be possible. seriously, all the gunners are still gunning, and everyone else seems to be really confident. i think we only had one drop out. it's kind of surprising. it's also kind of funny cause most people probably think i did poorly.

I think we have the same gunners. I have no idea how they did, but they're still gunning away.

Some have shut up. I won't name names but I know at least one blatant gunner who talked in almost every single class last semester who now only occasionally speaks. He's also gone back to LEOP tutoring, after leaving in the middle of last semester, so that's probably an indication of doing poorly. It's too humiliating to do that without a really good reason.

Nevertheless, new gunners may be on the rise. One of my friends told me I'm more of a gunner this semester. I think she's wrong but then again a gunner doesn't know their actually being a gunner

Dean's list was posted today. Only two people from my section on it, me being one of them and a gunner the other. Apparently a lot of people have been talking about me behind my back, calling me a sniper. I'm sorry, but since when did being the opposite of a gunner become a negative thing? I'm sorry I only speak once per class and not five million times.

What kind of school does this? I am pretty sure that dean's list at my school is just a meaningless distinction that goes on your transcript when you have a semester GPA above 3.5

No one ever knows if you're on the dean's list nor should they know, unless they are trying to hire you.

i LOVE these. my current SO made me nothing. i had to grill my own steak.


Completely unrelated - at my school, professors are allowed to bump up or down grades by .25 for participation. Is this common with other schools? My con law professor said he generally bumps up 10-12 people's grades, so people go crazy in that class, talking about the most off-the-wall things.

At my school most professors say they give a 1 step change due to participation (i.e. from a B+ to an A-, one even said he took someone from an A to A+ because of participation). I only had one professor last semester that put it in the syllabus that he does that, but this semester all of my professors say it, it's been gunner hell. At least the majority of the class is beginning to get visibly upset with our most egregious gunner, so someone will surely say something to him sooner or later....

I've always thought that professors just say they will boost or decrease some people based on class participation but never did it.
