What do you do the day before an exam? Forum

My first exam is tomorrow. I've done all the practice exams the professor posted and have met with other students to discuss them since they don't all have model answers. I'm going to talk to the prof during office hours to clarify a couple of things and then my outline will be done (it's an open book exam). I've made an issue spotter checklist. I've done the practice essays and multiple choice in the BarBri 1L review book and listened to the lectures for this topic online.

What else should I be doing? I feel like I should be doing more to prepare, but I'm just not sure what else there is left to do. It seems pointless to make flash cards or do anything like that since it's open book. I was thinking about studying for my other exams or working on job applications for the rest of the day instead. Anyone else run into this feeling?

My exams aren't open book so we're not exactly on the same page. But, one thing I like to do is run through my outline and type up short "blurbs" of the law by synthesizing your outline into what you would actually need to write when that issue comes up. It helps me work faster during exam time and spit out the necessary BLL.

And the day of the exam, I run through my outline and refresh then go work out to clear out all the anxiety.

It's still important to have things in your head even if it's open book. You want to be able to just type and not have to waste time referring to your outline (or even worse your book) if at all possible.

That being said, at this point it's the day before the test and there's likely not much more you can actually learn. I spent the morning and early afternoon taking a practice test and refreshing myself by going over my outline. I made sure to spend the evening just relaxing and making sure I got to bed on time so I could wake up early the next day.

I like this idea, thanks! I'll give it a try today. I've also tried running through some of the CALI lessons, but they aren't always consistent with what my professor teaches and therefore not all that helpful.

As a 1L, I just kind went into the zone and envisioned what I would be doing the next day. Walked through it over and over in my mind. As a 2L.

Ambien. That shit is like clockwork - take it, fall asleep 15 minutes later, wake up 7 hours later fresh as a fucking daisy, and for me, it was a huge factor in helping myself relax, knowing I was going to be able to fall asleep. I don't sleep well, and the stress of knowing I won't be able to fall asleep makes me not fall asleep. Yes, its a vicious cycle.

You have to be well rested. I know the stess will keep you awake, but I took an Ambien before every single exam, and I did well. Every single leg up you can get on your peers, take it. Sleep is a major one. Everyone looked so haggard, but I was tip-top. I also took 2 advil and a redbull just as the exam began to counter the stress headache I would develop during the exam. And make sure to, um, relieve yourself as much as possible before the exam. Leaving to go to the bathroom is points lost.

Usually i have a 1-2 page attack style outline. Ill take it out and go over it. Then i get out some paper and go through the outline in my head writing down basically everything i know on each subject in my outline.
