Difficulty of getting a SA in primary and secondary markets?
Could someone fill me in on how the different legal markets compare on relative difficulty of getting a SA?

Largely depends on school, grades, and extent of ties to secondary market.

I'm just looking for general information which i've heard in bits and pieces in various threads (NYC is the easiest, DC very hard if not the hardest, etc.).Grizz wrote:Largely depends on school, grades, and extent of ties to secondary market.

you're looking for a convenient and easy answer, when really, it:ph14 wrote:I'm just looking for general information which i've heard in bits and pieces in various threads (NYC is the easiest, DC very hard if not the hardest, etc.).Grizz wrote:Largely depends on school, grades, and extent of ties to secondary market.

I was speaking toward secondary markets, but now that I think some more, even in primary markets it can depend a lot on the above factors.ph14 wrote:I'm just looking for general information which i've heard in bits and pieces in various threads (NYC is the easiest, DC very hard if not the hardest, etc.).Grizz wrote:Largely depends on school, grades, and extent of ties to secondary market.

I disagree that NYC is the easiest.

Too many variables. You have to narrow what you want a little bit then people can start speculating for you.
The only thing I can say for you right now is that currently the majority of law school attendees will never get jobs that were worth the time and expense of going to law school.

If I had my same lever grades at Cornell, NYC would have been MUCH easier than having the same level of grades at Vanderbilt, based on personal experience.Pato_09 wrote:I disagree that NYC is the easiest.

Although I agree with the chilling (get grades, d00d), if you want to go to a 2ndary market you have few connections with, it may be helpful to try to go there to strengthen them during 1L summer.bk187 wrote:OCI is almost a year away for you.

Good point. 1L job search is coming faster than I'd like.Grizz wrote:Although I agree with the chilling (get grades, d00d), if you want to go to a 2ndary market you have few connections with, it may be helpful to try to go there to strengthen them during 1L summer.
