How Hard Do You Work in P/F Class

Post by goosey » Wed Oct 26, 2011 11:29 am

i recently changed one of my elective classes to p/f because I didnt want to risk getting a bad grade [no old exms to go off of, the professor doesnt tell us what the exam will be like, just that its closed book, etc]

I feel much better because now I can spend more time on my otehr classes and raise my gpa, but I am not sure how much work i should be putting into thos p/f class now.

is it even *possible* to fail law school class? seems like you would have to TRY to fail it..?

Yes; yes.

Bottom line is that you really don't have to try that hard, just scrape by, but don't completely neglect it.

Does the professor know you are taking it pass fail? Or does it just get converted to P/F after?

Do people actually fail classes at your school?

Realistically you should just find someone's old outline and memorize it the day before the exam. IIRC you did pretty well 1L. You won't do well, but your exam won't be the worst turned in.

I was told the prof will know I am taking it pass/fail but I will receive an actual grade [so I guess that means my exam is still graded anonymously] and then it gets converted to p/f afterwards.

there are no old outlines because it is being taught by a judge--this is part of the reason I p/f'd it because I am just not getting his teaching style and there is absolutely NOTHING to go off of in terms of what his expectations are (and he seems to not want to tell us either)....I am just debating whether or not I should outline...

Interesting. I'd do enough so it doesn't look like you are a total moron. If it's a topic that you can get another outline (even if its not 100% accurate), I'd just do that.
